[ Long Island ] • Galloway Landing

There’s a tucked away little gem in South Long Island. It’s called Galloway Landing.

Finding this gem is pretty easy. There’s a dirt road when heading south out of Clarence Town on your right. Take that road and follow it until you see the beach.

This is one of the best beaches on the island, though it’s recommended that you visit in a car suited for off-road travel like a SUV or truck.

Right near the beach is a tidal creek, which is simply a stream of water that is affected by the ebb and flow of the tidal currents. This means that when the tide is going out, the flow of the stream will be towards the beach and when the tide is coming in, the flow of the stream will be away from the beach in land into the mangrove creeks.

There’s also a rope hanging from the tree for jumping into the creek, but I’d advise jumping with caution as the last time I visited there was a 6-7 foot shark hanging out in the creek. But if you’re Steve Irwin reborn, knock yourself out.
