[ Long Island ] • Lloyd's Restaurant & Sporting Lounge

Just outside of Long Island’s capital settlement, Clarence Town, in the small settlement of Dean’s (home of world-famous Dean’s Blue Hole) is Lloyd’s Restaurant & Sporting Lounge.

It’s the brainchild of Mr. & Mrs. Ellis Major and first opened in December of 2014. It’s a first of its kind on the island and in family islands in general.

Lloyd’s is an all-in-one place that’s perfect for everyone. It houses a sports bar, restaurant, pool hall, and ballroom. It’s rather upscale and is very luxuriously furnished.

In the restaurant and sports lounge portion of the establishment, there are numerous flat screen televisions adorning the walls. The entire building is air-conditioned adding in comfort and enjoyment. The food ranges from local regular dishes such as chicken & fries and pizza to a plethora of pasta dishes. Also on the menu are favourites like fresh mutton, crab & rice and steak. The ballroom becomes a club of sorts in the weekends and features music played by local DJ's and the pool room is often the home of pool tournaments.

During my visit, I was pretty cliché and ordered chicken and fries, and though chicken snacks can be so vapid, I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, it was better than any Bamboo Shack breast snack I’ve ever had.

What really added Lloyd’s to my list of favourites is the fact that they sell Kalik Gold. Because, if you know me, you know that I have a love affair with that stuff.

Lloyd’s Restaurant and Sporting Lounge is open daily, save Sundays, from 12:00 pm. Their numbers are 337-5762 & 337-5763. It’s an exceptional spot for lunch, dinner, a party or just to unwind. When in Long Island, it’s most certainly a place worth visiting.
